Isabel is a Creative Director, Designer and Socio-Cultural Researcher based in London. She undertakes artist residencies and research projects, writing and creating work on the themes of culture, design, technology, language and the social. She is currently Design Researcher in Residence at The Design Museum. She also runs multidisciplinary agency ATYPICAL working for tech and cultural brands.

She has been featured in It’s Nice That, Wallpaper and DesignWeek and done talks for AIGA in LA, 99u in New York and TYPO in Berlin.

After graduating with a degree in design, Isabel joined multidisciplinary agency ATYPICAL and has now lived and worked in Copenhagen, New York and London. Over time, she became more fascinated with the social side of design and returned to LSE to earn an MSc in Socio-Cultural Studies, focusing on design, the social and language.

Isabel helps start ups and established brands understand craft their brand narrative, create meaningful campaigns and engineer strategic brand strategies across UK, US and European markets. Previous clients include; Adobe, Panasonic, Afterpay and Bang and Olufsen,.

 

Research & Essays

Isabel is currently a socio-cultural researcher at LSE undertaking research on design, sociolinguistics, cultural theory and typography. I have previously written and created photo-essays for publications such as Ambrosia Mag, and PetaPixel on these themes.

 

Artist Talks

Over the last few years Isabel has spoken at major creative conferences including AIGA Los Angeles, 99u New York and Typo Berlin on subjects of creative thinking, typography, social design and design business.

Today, she consults and art directs for a variety of international brands, as well as giving artist talks and workshops, and undertake sociocultural research projects for companies and academic institutions. She has undertaken residencies for companies like Adobe, and is a Google Leadership Fellow.
